Privacy Policy – JPG to PNG Converter (Chrome Extension)
Last updated: August 28, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how the JPG to PNG Converter Chrome extension (“Extension”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information. We designed this Extension with privacy in mind: image conversion happens locally in your browser. By using the Extension, you agree to this Policy.
What this Extension does
The Extension converts JPG images to PNG format directly in your browser. It provides a simple interface for selecting or dragging-and-dropping a JPG file and downloading the converted PNG—no sign-up required.
Data we do not collect
- No personal data
- No images or files are uploaded to our servers
- No tracking, analytics, or advertising identifiers
- No behavioral profiling
Local processing (on-device)
All image conversion is performed locally using your browser’s Canvas and File APIs. Files never leave your device as part of the conversion process.
Permissions used
storage
: Used only to store basic, non-personal preferences (e.g., UI settings like dark mode). Data remains on your device.activeTab
(if present): Allows the popup to interact with the currently active tab’s context solely for user-initiated actions. No background scraping or data collection.
Important: We request only the minimum permissions necessary for the Extension’s single purpose—image conversion.
Third-party services and external links
The Extension may include an optional link to a support/donation page (e.g., Gumroad). Visiting external sites is voluntary and outside the scope of the Extension. Those sites may have their own privacy policies and data practices.
Cookies
The Extension does not set or read cookies. External sites you choose to visit (e.g., a donation page or our website) may use cookies per their policies.
Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
Because processing happens locally in your browser and no files are transmitted to our servers, cross-border data transfers do not occur as part of core functionality.
Your choices
- Uninstall the Extension at any time via your browser’s extensions settings.
- Clear locally stored preferences via your browser’s site data/storage settings.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
